The cultures, families, communities, and traditions we grow up in often shape how we see ourselves, our relationships, and our place in the world. While these influences can provide a deep sense of connection and belonging, they can also create challenges as we navigate different expectations, values, and identities.
Many of the individuals I work with find themselves balancing multiple cultural worlds. You may feel caught between your family's expectations and your own desires, struggle with guilt around boundaries, feel pressure to care for others before yourself, or wonder where you truly belong. Others may be navigating questions of identity, cultural values, family obligations, faith, or what it means to create a life that feels authentic to them.
As a Filipina American therapist, I understand the complexity of living between cultures and the ways family, community, faith, and cultural expectations can shape our relationships and sense of self. While every person's experience is unique, therapy can provide a space to explore these experiences with curiosity, compassion, and cultural awareness.
Together, we'll explore how your family of origin, cultural experiences, relationships, and personal values have shaped your story. My goal is not to help you choose one identity over another, but to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and create a life that feels authentic, connected, and aligned with your values.
I welcome individuals from all cultural backgrounds and especially enjoy working with those navigating bicultural identities, immigrant family dynamics, questions of belonging, and the challenges of balancing multiple worlds.
